We have lots of entertainment & lively social functions at Nashley House, hosting a wide range of ‘in-house’ activities, giving variety, promoting new ideas, organising something that suits & pleases everyone. Whether it is bingo, musical movement, sing-a-long, talks & demonstrations, beetle-drives or slide shows — We Have Fun.
All special days are celebrated, not only resident’s birthdays but also Mother’s & Father’s days, St. George’s, Wedding Anniversaries, Bank Holidays & of course Easter & Christmas. Commemoration days are respectfully remembered — a good reason to raise our glasses in thoughtful memory or to share a special moment with those around us in fellowship & unity.
For those who enjoy going out & about, we arrange regular afternoon Coach Trips – visiting Clifton Downs, Blagdon Lakes, Cheddar Gorge, Wells & Glastonbury, Portishead & Clevedon – taking in the views & countryside, making stops for afternoon tea & ice-creams.
Outings of a Difference
The Circus comes to town & Nashley House goes. We never like to miss out on a good thing & something different. Those residents game for a laugh are encouraged to jump on the bandwagon. As shows come to our locality we attend; Circus, Danny La Rue, Ken Dodd…
Variety is the Spice of Life
Nashley House welcomes visitors of a unique kind - Beckham the Alpaca. His quiet, gentle nature enabled our residents to have a cuddle with this very unusual Chillean chappie.
Nibbles the Rabbit is a welcomed fluffy visitor - stimulating conversations of nostalgia, childhood memories & the family pets.
The Residents of Nashley House enjoy the household menagerie of fish, budgie, cockatiel & Leo The Cat. Many families frequently escort their canine 'offspring' into Nashley House giving pleasure to all.
Purpose to Life
Many Residents like to be involved in the Community Spirit of our Household fulfilling useful daily tasks which add tremendous purpose to life, increasing self worth whilst maintaining an active role.
Residents boost camaraderie by distributing the daily post & newspapers to one another. Ruth enjoys her sewing, knitting and dressmaking as a very pleasurable past time. Residents who are fond of the outdoors can potter at leisure in the gardens.
Visitors Always Welcome
Visitors to Nashley House are always welcome & bring great pleasure to those receiving them. Nashley House is an open House, friends are invited to stay for lunch, partake of entertainment & in-house social activities or join coach outings & theatre trips. Four legged friends of all species are known to pop their heads around the lounge door!
Church & Religious Wellbeing
The very beautiful Victorian Christian church, Christ Church, is within a stone's throw of Nashley House, a two minute stroll. The fellowship extended to us by the congregation of Christ Church is tremendous. They offer escorts for Sunday Church Services, willingly collect residents for numerous other church functions & monthly, hold a Fellowship Circle afternoon gathering, extending the ‘arm of Christ’, to our household.
We hold a monthly Communion Service at Nashley House, the Reverend welcomes all denominations to attend. Nashley House has a very open Religious Belief, each person's theology is confidential, client's wishes fully respected. We acknowledge all denomination's beliefs and would always fulfill requests to the best of our ability, to meet an individual's religious needs and comfort for easement of spirit & soul. As well as frequent religious services, talks & communion Nashley House has associated religious activities - St Martin's Bell Ringers, The Girls Brigade, Male Gospel Voice Choir & The Salvation Army visit throughout the Year.
Lancaster House Junior School visit Nashley House each term to sing and perform recitals of music, poetry & prose. Building youngsters confidence & understanding of the elderly whilst thrilling our residents with their bubbly energy & the voices of angels.
Conveniently for both our residents & their visitors, Nashley House is easily accessed via good Bus Routes, making town amenities, e.g. Swimming Pool, Sports Centres, Bowling Greens, Library & Shops, readily available & local villages, sight seeing attractions & places of interest within easy reach for all. We are serviced by a Public Transport Railway Link, the station being only two miles from Nashley House.
Within a mile of Nashley House there is an extensive range of branded High Street Stores; BhS, M & S, W.H. Smith, Boots etc with smaller boutiques & stores of interest. The Sovereign Centre offers a covered pedestrianised-only shopping precinct very apt & safely suitable to our particular clients. Catering for disabilities, hiring of motorised scooters available.
